The Glen Cove City Council heard a variety of reactions Thursday from residents for and against - some passionately so - the proposal to build 23 duplex buildings on 17 acres in the northeast corner of the Glen Cove Mansion property.
Concerns were raised that the 46 individual homes would not sell for the $1 million price tags the developer is saying will be a property tax revenue booster for the city.
A number of residents who live near the site spoke up with skepticism about the density and visibility of the planned development.

Others conceded that it may be a move the Mansion needs to make in order to remain a viable commercial entity, and to preserve the historic former Pratt estate building and surrounding grounds.
