NYPD K-9 Is Back On The Job After Injuries During Gun Raid

Timoshenko got seven stitches in his paw less than three weeks ago but is already back at work.

RED HOOK, BROOKLYN — The NYPD K-9 who had to get seven stitches in his paw after falling through a ceiling during a gun raid is back on the job, police said this week.

"We are happy to report that ESU K9 'Timmy' is back to work after having his stitches removed," NYPD Special Ops said in a Twitter post.

Timoshenko was out on the job the night of Thursday, August 10, executing a search warrant in Red Hook, on the corner of Van Brunt and Seabring streets.

While he was searching the home's attic, the canine crashed through the ceiling onto the floor below and cut his paw. He had to be taken to an animal hospital for stitches.

Before his injury, he helped officers sniff out 10 illegal firearms in the home, including an assault rifle, a semi-automatic pistol, a shotgun and a black powder musket.

Authorities arrested 61-year-old Agron Haskaj and charged him with 10 counts of criminal possession of a firearm.

Timoshenko is a German shepherd named after Detective Russel Timoshenko who was killed during a traffic stop on Staten Island.

He was also honored by Special Ops on National Dog Day.
