GREAT NECK, NY — Robert Zimmerman, a Great Neck businessman running for New York's 3rd Congressional District, will be hosting an in-person town hall for potential constituents in Queens.

It's the second of five town halls hosted by the Congressional candidate. All five town halls will take place in each of the five counties that span the district — which includes Nassau County's North Shore, as well as parts of Suffolk County, Queens, the Bronx, and Westchester.

The one in Queens will be held at Clearview Golf Club (202-12 Willets Point Blvd.) at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 13. The dates and locations of Zimmerman's remaining town halls will be announced in the coming weeks.

"The town halls will be community-focused forums for voters to voice matters of importance to them," Zimmerman's campaign office said in a statement. "Zimmerman has pledged to maintain a grassroots effort to listen to, and engage with, voters through a series of local conversations."

Zimmerman — a longtime DNC member and the co-president of ZE Creative Communications — entered the 3rd Congressional race in January, joining a crowded field of Democrats vying to replace Rep. Tom Suozzi (D-Glen Cove), who has his sights set on the governor's office. The race includes former North Hempstead Town Supervisor Jon Kaiman, Nassau County Legislator Joshua Lafazan, Port Washington's Melanie D'Arrigo, and Oyster Bay's Reema Rasool.

If elected, Zimmerman would be the first openly gay representative to Congress from the district. The issues he sees as priorities include LGBTQ+ rights, Medicare for all, women's reproductive health, gun safety, "a truly safe and secure Israel and a two-state solution in the Middle East," climate change, and restoring the state and local tax deduction on federal taxes.

In a statement announcing his bid for office, Zimmerman said too many people "feel overlooked and unseen," and that it's up to elected officials "to restore people's confidence that our government is there for them."

"It is my commitment to lift up the voices of those who are not being heard," he said. "Whether it's veterans, middle-class families trying to balance the pressures of everyday living, or our senior citizens, people in our communities deserve to have a Member of Congress that they can trust will have their back."

Since announcing his plans to run for Congress, Zimmerman has been endorsed by a number of political heavyweights, including former Nassau County Executive Laura Curran, former Town Supervisor Judi Bosworth, State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli, and State Assemblymember Charles Levine.
