According to a joint statement Wednesday from Acting Police Commissioner Thomas Krumpter and County Executive Ed Mangano, the “ongoing series” of thefts have been reported across Nassau County involving 2014 and 2015 Mercedes-Benz vehicles.

NCPD is “actively investigating” the thefts and said they are “employing all available resources to locate and arrest those responsible for these larcenies.”
Police said residents could secure cars by using wheel locks and parking in well lit areas. Security measures like motion detector lights in driveways, security cameras, and car alarms with motion sensors can also deter thieves, officials said.
