Coronavirus: Popular LI Steakhouse Lays Off Dozens Of Workers

It's not clear when the restaurant's Great Neck location will reopen.

GREAT NECK, NY — As the coronavirus forces many people into self-isolation, many Long Island businesses continue to feel the negative impact. A popular New York restaurant is the latest business to shut its doors temporarily.

According to the New York State Department of Labor, Peter Luger Steak House recently laid off 61 workers Sunday "due to unforeseeable business circumstances prompted by COVID-19." The restaurant has locations in Great Neck and Brooklyn.

The Great Neck location appears to be the only restaurant impacted by the closure at this time. When Patch reached out to the Brooklyn location Tuesday, they were still accepting pickup orders from their limited menus. Butcher shop items were also still available for pickup.
