DNA Connects Man To 2011 Great Neck Burglary: Police

DNA evidence recovered from the scene linked him to the crime seven years later, police say.

A homeless man was arrested for a burglary that occurred in Great Neck in 2011 after authorities linked his DNA to the crime scene, police announced on Tuesday.

According to authorities, 27-year-old Jose Vasquez entered a Bond Street office building by unknown means and broke into office suite 111 on July 15, 2011 at 9:36 a.m. Police say he stole a security camera.

DNA evidence recovered from the scene linked Vasquez to the crime seven years later, police say. He was located and placed under arrest without incident.

Vasquez was charged with third-degree burglary. He will be arraigned on Tuesday at First District Court in Hempstead.
