'Great Gatsby' Release Delayed Till 2013

The film, which is set in a fictionalized depiction of King Point and Sands Point, will not be eligible for this year's Oscars.

Warner Bros studios has bumped the movie release of the tale that put West Egg on the fictionalized map.

the which stars Leonardo DiCaprio, will be released in the summer of 2013, rather than this Christmas, according to a statement issued by Warner Bros.

"Baz is known for being innovative, but with this film he has done something completely unexpected—making it in 3D—while capturing the emotion, the intimacy, the power and the spectacle of the time," said Veronika Kwan Vandenberg, President of International Distribution at Warner Bros. "The responses we've had to some of the early sneak peeks have been phenomenal, and we think 'The Great Gatsby' will be the perfect summer movie around the world," she added.

The film, an adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald's novel, a fictionalized depiction of life in Great Neck and Sands Point during the 1920's, was directed by Australian filmmaker Baz Luhrmann. The delay in the release date will place the film outside of the 2012 Oscar contest.
