Great Neck Facebook Marketplace Deal Leads To Counterfeit Cash Arrest: Police
Police say a Manhattan man was arrested after a petit larceny incident.
GREAT NECK, NY — A Manhattan man was arrested after a petit larceny incident occurred in November during a Facebook Marketplace swap, police said.
According to Nassau County police, on Nov. 21 at 3:40 p.m., a 25-year-old man met with the 28-year-old Manhattan man to sell him a cell phone. The 25-year-old believed he had received $950 U.S. currency in exchange for the phone, but when he tried to deposit the money at the bank, he realized the bills were counterfeit, police said.
After an investigation, Luis Cruz Homs was arrested and charged with 17 counts of first-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument and petit larceny, police said. He will be arraigned on Wednesday in Hempstead, police said.
