Hewlett-Woodmere Named One Of Best School Districts In Country

It received stellar grades in the new rankings released by education platform Niche.

WOODMERE, NY — The Hewlett-Woodmere School District was named one of the best in the country in the education platform Niche’s 2023 Best Schools and Districts rankings released Tuesday.

The Five Towns district was No. 19 in Niche’s ranking of 11,820 school districts nationwide. Overall, six Long Island districts were in the top 25 in the country.

Niche gave Hewlett-Woodmere an A+ grade. The breakdown by specific categories were:

Resources and facilities: A+
Diversity: B+
College prep: A+
Administration: A+
Food: A+

The school district has 2,938 students.

Hewlett-Woodmere was also named the No. 6 school district in New York, and placed No. 4 on the list of best places to teach in the state.

Many Long Island high schools were named among the best in the state.

The rankings differ from others that rely almost exclusively on test scores and academic performance in that it also includes input from students, alumni and parents, as well as quantitative data from sources such as the U.S. Department of Education to evaluate teachers, resources and facilities.
