Town Hall Shakeup: Staff Changes OK'd by Town Board

With a new administration set to take over Jan. 5, North Hempstead reorganization is in full swing at Town Hall. 

At a town board meeting Dec. 10, a resolution authorizing the retirement, transfer or termination of employees was approved for positions in various town departments.

The resolution passed 5-1 with Councilwoman Dina De Giorgio (R-Port Washington) voting against.

Lauren Summa, a current administrative assistant to the supervisor, has been approved for a hefty pay hike and a title change. Her pay will increase from $51,000 this year to $70,000 in 2014 as the new secretary to the building commissioner. The effective date of change is Dec. 31.

Director of Legislative Affairs Gina Sillitti will take on a new role as North Hempstead's deputy commissioner of community services. Her annual salary of $85,313 will remain the same next year. The effective date of change is Dec. 31.

Jo-Anne Taormina will retire effective Dec. 28 as executive assistant to the supervisor.

Approved terminations effective Jan. 1 include: Public Information Officer Collin Nash; Administrative Assistant to the Supervisor Indra "Sid" Nathan, who recently failed in his run at a town board seat; Deputy Commissioner of Public Services John Fabio; Building Plans Examiner Michael LoPresti; and Deputy Commissioner of Finance Angelo Ferrara.

Maintenance Mechanic Trainee Anthony Aloisio's termination was approved effective Dec. 10.
