Police ID Woman Fatally Struck By Car In Great Neck

UPDATED Tuesday at 2:45 p.m.: A 77-year-old woman was fatally struck by a vehicle in Great Neck on Monday evening, police say.

According to authorities, Whitestone resident Marie A. Ortiz was crossing on a crosswalk at Lakeville Road, near Cumberland Avenue, when she was struck by a 2017 Toyota Camry traveling southbound at 6:21 p.m.

Ortiz suffered multiple trauma injuries and was taken to an area hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The driver of the Toyota, a 61-year-old man, was not injured and remained at the scene.

A brake test was conducted at the scene and the vehicle was released to the operator.

The investigation is ongoing.
