3 Crashes In Melville; Fire Department Urges 'Extra Care' On Road

The three crashes happened within five hours of each other on Wednesday morning, police say.

MELVILLE, NY — Three car crashes were reported in Melville within five hours on Wednesday morning, Suffolk police said. With Thanksgiving travel underway, the Melville Fire Department urged caution on the road.

The first crash was reported around 6 a.m., as there was a two-car collision on the eastbound Long Island Expressway near exit 50 in Melville, police said. The right and center lanes were closed for a short time.

A vehicle and a commercial truck collided at 10:34 a.m. on South Service and Broadhollow roads, police said. No one was injured, police said.

The third crash happened on Baylis Road at Broadhollow Road at 11:07 a.m., police said. One person was brought to a nearby hospital to be treated for injuries that are not life-threatening, police said. Police did not have information on how many vehicles were involved.

The Melville Fire Department said there were serious injuries in two of the three crashes in a Facebook post.
