Brian Conboy Appointed Interim Superintendent of Half Hollow Hills
Conboy brings a wealth of experience to the district, having worked for 40 years in the field of education.

At a special meeting of the Half Hollow Hills Central School District’s Board of Education on October 23, 2024, the board voted to appoint Mr. Brian Conboy as the Interim Superintendent of Schools. Conboy will begin working in this role effective October 26, 2024.
“I am truly excited to join the Half Hollow Hills community as their Interim Superintendent, and I thank the board of education for their trust and confidence in me,” said Mr. Conboy. “I look forward to working together with our board and community to uphold and build upon the district's proud tradition of educational excellence while supporting our students, staff and families every step of the way.”
Mr. Conboy brings a wealth of experience to the district, having worked for 40 years in the field of education. After retiring as the Superintendent of Schools in the Seaford School District in 2017, he has served as the Interim Superintendent in both the Babylon and Massapequa school districts, and most recently worked as the Interim Principal of Floral Park Memorial High School. Conboy holds a bachelor’s degree in education from SUNY Geneseo and both a master’s degree in education and a certificate of advanced studies in educational administration from Hofstra University.

The Half Hollow Hills Board of Education secured the services of Western Suffolk BOCES (WSBOCES) to facilitate the search and recruitment process for the Interim Superintendent of Schools position and a new permanent Superintendent of Schools. WSBOCES brings years of experience and a proven track record of success, offering this valuable service to the district at no additional cost.

“We are dedicated to conducting a transparent and thorough process to select a new permanent Superintendent of Schools who aligns with our vision for the future of Half Hollow Hills and is deeply committed to the success of all our students,” added Acampora. “In the coming weeks, the board will begin engaging with the district’s many stakeholder groups to explain the next steps, ensure transparency throughout the search, and enlist community and staff member input in the decision-making process.”
Conboy replaces Dr. Patrick Harrigan, who resigned to take a role at the Oyster Bay-East Norwich Central School District.
An education-oriented community with high academic expectations, the Half Hollow Hills Central School District is located in a residential area of 50,000 people in the central part of Long Island, approximately 40 miles from New York City. Providing for the education of approximately 7,200 students, the school district has five elementary schools, two middle schools and two high schools. Half Hollow Hills High Schools are fully accredited by the New York State Department of Education. The district is committed to providing all students with equitable opportunities to excel in academics, athletics and the arts.
