Dix Hills Fire Chief Lights the Menorah

DIX HILLS, NY — Dix Hills Fire Department Chief Alan Berkowitz was the guest of honor at the Grand Menorah Lighting and Chanukah celebration at the Chai Center in Dix Hills, according to P.I.O. Steve Silverman.

Berkowitz was honored for his dedication and service to the community, and lit the Menorah under the direction of Rabbi David Weinbaum during the ceremony. Dix Hills firefighters Chanan Schupak and Steve Weisbrot dropped Chanukah Gelt (chocolate coins) from a fire engine for the children, and traditional donuts and hot potato latkes were served.
