Penny Chin, a resident of Dix Hills and the director of alumni affairs at SUNY Old Westbury, was recently among the more than 60 community and business leaders from Nassau and Suffolk Counties named as the “2024 Power Women of Long Island.”

Now in its 30th year, the “Power Women of Long Island” program is organized by Schneps Media to celebrate the leadership, resilience, and community impact of those recognized. The event was held on November 13 in Woodbury, New York.

“Each one of you has put a dent in that glass ceiling, making a tremendous contribution,” said Schneps Media President Vicki Schneps during the event. “Relish your moment in the spotlight, because you have earned it.”

Chin was recognized for her work at Old Westbury, where she leads efforts to connect and engage with the institution’s more than 36,000 alumni. A 1990 graduate of the University, she has amassed a 30-year career in alumni engagement, fundraising, and program development.

This honor marked the second recognition Chin earned this year, having in May been awarded the SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Professional Service.
