HUNTINGTON STATION, NY — Two Dix Hills sisters were named the co-winners of the "Operation Safe Stop" poster contest held by Legislator Tom Donnelly of the 17th Suffolk Legislative District, his office announced.

Donnelly (D — Deer Park) recently honored Abby and Adalynn Adams, students at Signal Hill Elementary School, after they won the contest. Established in 2018, the annual competition invites
elementary school students to creatively help promote awareness about the dangers of passing a stopped school bus.

Each year, one poster is selected for a countywide message by the Suffolk County Police Department. Students from Donnelly's district submitted entries, and the Adams girls were named co-winners.

They were honored with county proclamations by Donnelly, who was joined by Abby and Adalynn’s parents, brother, teachers, Half Hollow School District Superintendent Dr. Patrick Harrigan and Principal Maryann Fasciana at Signal Hill in June.

"Of the many entries I received for this year’s competition, two of them stood out – and the
artists happened to be sisters," Donnelly said in a news release. "I thank Abby and Adalynn and all
who entered the contest for using their artistic abilities to help ensure we all act in a safe manner
each day!"
