Fight Club Broken Up In Melville: Police

Two men were ticketed in connection with the fight, police say. Approximately 70 people were in attendance, the department said.

MELVILLE, NY — Two Northport men were arrested in connection with participating in an unauthorized fight club event in Melville on Sunday, Suffolk police said.

The fight club had been advertised on social media, prompting community complaints, police said. Officers arrested two participants at Walt Whitman Park, at 2559 New York Avenue, around 4:30 p.m., police said. There were approximately 70 people in attendance, police said.

The 19-year-old Northport men were charged with unlawful assembly, police said. They were issued desk appearance tickets and are scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on a later date.
