Man Dies In Suffolk Crash After Suffering Medical Event
The man suffered an apparent medical emergency and crashed his car into the center median on the Long Island Expressway, police say.
MELVILLE, NY — A man died in a motor vehicle crash in Melville on Wednesday after suffering an apparent medical emergency, Suffolk police said.
James Dawson, 52, of the Bronx, was driving a Ford E350 van westbound on the Long Island Expressway, just west of exit 49, when he struck the center median at approximately 4:40 p.m., police said. Dawson was pronounced dead at Plainview Hospital.
Detectives believe Dawson suffered a medical event before the crash.

The Ford van was impounded for a safety check. All lanes were closed as a result of the crash.
