Overnight Road Closures To Impact Long Island Expressway In Suffolk
Bridge and highway maintenance operations are planned.
SUFFOLK COUNTY, NY — Road closures are slated for the Long Island Expressway in parts of Suffolk County, the New York State Department of Transportation announced.
Bridge and highway maintenance operations are scheduled between exits 49 and 53, which run through Melville, Dix Hills and Hauppauge.

- Thursday: The westbound HOV and left lanes will be closed at Exit 53 (Sagtikos State Parkway) in Hauppauge between 9:30 p.m. and 5 a.m.
- Thursday and Friday: The eastbound lanes will be closed and detoured onto the South Service Road between Exit 49 (State Route 110) and Exit 53 (Sagtikos State Parkway) from 10 p.m. until 5 a.m.
The scheduled closures hinge on the weather.
Motorists were urged by the state department to plan accordingly and drive responsibly in work zones. Fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. Convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of one's driver's license.
