Woman Killed In Long Island Wrong-Way Crash: Police

Two more people were seriously injured, police say.

DIX HILLS, NY — A woman was killed, and two people were seriously injured following a crash in Dix Hills on Friday, Suffolk police said.

Donna Locicero, 63, of Dix Hills, was driving a 2019 Nissan SUV westbound on Vanderbilt Parkway at Village Hill Drive when she crossed into the eastbound lane and collided head-on with an eastbound 2006 Honda sedan at 5:22 p.m. Friday, police said. One of the cars then collided with a 2017 Volvo SUV also heading eastbound on Vanderbilt Parkway, police said.

Locicero, who was the sole occupant of the Nissan, was pronounced dead at the scene. The two people in the Honda, a 78-year-old father and his 34-year-old daughter, both from Dix Hills, were seriously injured and brought to local hospitals, police said. The Volvo driver, a 25-year-old Dix Hills man, was not injured.

The father and daughter were pinned in one of the cars and were freed with heavy rescue tools by Dix Hills firefighters, public information officer Steve Silverman said. About 35 firefighters and emergency medical personnel responded with three heavy rescue trucks, three ambulances, and paramedic units, under the direction of Second Assistant Chief Scott DiPino. The Deer Park and Greenlawn fire departments assisted.

The vehicles were impounded for a safety check. Anyone with information on the crash is asked to call the Second Squad at 631-854-8252.
