Wrong-Way Driver Killed In Suffolk Crash; Another Driver Hurt: Police

The other driver suffered serious injuries, police say.

MELVILLE, NY — A wrong-way driver was killed in a crash in Melville on Thursday night, and another driver was seriously injured, Suffolk police said.

Marie Louis, 56, of North Amityville, was driving a 2005 Honda Civic westbound in the eastbound lanes of Express Drive South at Maxess Road, police said. She collided head-on with an eastbound 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLC driven by a 61-year-old North Baldwin woman at 11:15 p.m., police said.

Louis was pronounced dead at Nassau University Medical Center. The North Baldwin woman suffered serious injuries, police said.

Both vehicles were impounded.

Detectives are asking anyone with information on the crash to call the Second Squad at 631-854-8252.
