61-Year-Old Woman Killed In Manhattan Shooting, Police Say

Medics rushed the victim to Mount Sinai Morningside, where she was pronounced dead, police said.

HARLEM, NY — Excenia Mette, a 61-year-old woman, was killed by a gunshot to the head on Tuesday night in Harlem, New York City Police Department officials said.

According to the NYPD, the shooting started around 10:20 p.m. at the intersection of West 113th Street and Lenox Avenue, about three blocks from Central Park.

Law enforcement sources told Patch that Mette came out of her apartment after hearing a dispute on the street. According to the New York Daily News, she was going outside to break up the fight, and then got caught in the cross-fire.

One person was taken into custody, but no charges have been made yet, police said.
