10 Injured, 1 Hospitalized In 2-Alarm Blaze In Manhattan, FDNY Says

HARLEM, NY — A two-alarm fire injured 10 people and sent one firefighter to the hospital in Harlem on Saturday, New York City Fire Department officials said.

According to the FDNY, the fire broke out at 8 a.m. Saturday at a six-story building on the corner of West 149th Street and Broadway.

When firefighters arrived at the scene, they found a fire on the third floor that extended to the fourth floor, FDNY officials said.

More than 100 firefighters and medics responded to the blaze, officials said. Five firefighters and five civilians were injured, officials said.

One firefighter was transported to NewYork Presbyterian-Weill Cornell Medical Center, and the other injured people received medical attention at the scene, FDNY officials said.

The fire was put out by 9:21 a.m., officials said.

Red Cross was on scene and provided financial assistance to 10 people who were displaced, the organization said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, officials said.
