EAST HARLEM, NY - A homeless thief who cut open a victim’s pocket to snatch a wallet inside an East Harlem subway station has been nabbed, authorities said.

Roger Figueroa, 56, was charged with robbery in connection with the Aug. 19 incident, police said.

The wallet grab happened about 5:30 a.m. as the 49-year-old male victim was waiting on the southbound 6 train platform at the 116 Street station, police said.

The assailant approached the victim, cut open the victim’s pocket and grabbed the wallet before fleeing, police said.

The victim was not physically injured in the incident, police said.

The investigation is ongoing.
