Ex-Boyfriend Stabs Woman To Death In Manhattan, Police Say

An ex-boyfriend is accused of stabbing a mother to death in Harlem.

According to the NYPD, officers responded around 4:25 a.m. Monday to a 911 call about an assault at 409 West 129th St., near Convent Avenue, and found 47-year-old​ Carmen Lopez inside her building with more than 20 stab wounds.

HARLEM, NY — An ex-boyfriend is accused of stabbing a mother to death early Monday inside a West 129th Street apartment in Harlem, New York City Police Department officials said.

According to the NYPD, officers responded around 4:25 a.m. Monday to a 911 call about an assault at 409 West 129th St., near Convent Avenue, and found 47-year-old Carmen Lopez inside her building with more than 20 stab wounds.

She was taken to Mount Sinai Morningside Hospital in critical condition, where she succumbed to her injuries, police said.

Luis Marquez, a 41-year-old man from the Bronx, was arrested on murder charges, police said Tuesday afternoon.

Police said the victim lived in the building. According to the New York Daily News, the victim was a mother to four children, including a 7-year-old and a 14-year-old who still live at home.

Marquez's arraignment in Manhattan Criminal Court is expected Wednesday.
