HARLEM, NY — An MTA conductor was sent to the hospital in a seemingly random attack at a Harlem subway station, an NYPD spokesperson said.

The conductor was attacked on Wednesday, Dec. 11 after his train pulled into the West 145th Street and Lenox Ave station, police said. An unknown man approached the conductor, punched him in the face and then jumped from the area between two train cars onto the subway platform to run away, police said.

Medics took the conductor to Harlem Hospital to be treated for pain to his face and neck, police said. The attacker, whose motive is unknown, has avoided arrest.
