Man Stabbed On Harlem Bus In Unprovoked Attack, Police Say

HARLEM, NY — A man was stabbed on board a city bus in Central Harlem early Thursday, hours after another man was shot a mile away in East Harlem, according to police.

The stabbing unfolded on board an MTA bus that was serving as a shuttle for the 2 subway, running along Lenox Avenue, police said.

A 38-year-old man was riding the bus around 1 a.m. as it approached West 135th Street, when an unidentified man stabbed him in the right arm and slashed him on the right hand, unprovoked, an NYPD spokesperson said.

The victim had non-life-threatening injuries and walked to Harlem Hospital, which is steps from the scene of the crime, police said.

The suspect, identified only as a man in his 40s, got off the bus before police arrived and fled in an unknown direction, police said.

An investigation is ongoing, police said.

Meanwhile, a few hours earlier, a man was shot once in the hip near the corner of Second Avenue and East 120th Street around 7:30 p.m., according to police.

The victim was also taken to Harlem Hospital for the non-life-threatening gunshot wound, according to police. There have been no arrests, and police had no description of a possible suspect.
