Man Suspected In Harlem Rape Arrested: Police

HARLEM, NY — A suspect named by police in a Harlem rape case was arrested on Monday evening, according to police.

Taylor Quamae, 32, was arrested and charged with rape and sex abuse, police officials said.

Quamae turned himself in at the downtown headquarters of the NYPD Special Victims Unit with his lawyer on Monday, according to the Daily News.

Police claim that the man is connected to a March 10 rape, when in the early morning hours, a person broke into an East Harlem apartment, police said.

He then forced a 34-year-old woman to engage in sexual intercorse with him, according to officials.

The Far Rockaway resident has a history of 11 prior arrests, reports the Daily News, including one from last April when he was arrested for drug possession in Harlem.

Quamae also served five years in prison in 2014 after being convicted on a weapon possession charge in Manhattan, the Daily News said.
