NYPD Cop Arrested For Drunk Driving In Harlem On St. Pat: Police

The off-duty officer was pulled over on Third Avenue and faces three drunk driving charges, officials said.

HARLEM, NY — An off-duty NYPD officer was arrested and charged with drunk driving on Harlem streets hours after the St. Patrick's Day parade had ceased, police say.

Moises Hernandez, 26, was arrested and charged with DWI first offence, aggravated DWI and DWAI - Alcohol, officials said.

Hernandez was pulled over at around 7:15 p.m. on Third Avenue and East 106th Street, according to an NYPD spokesperson.

His charge of aggravated DWI means that police had evidence to show his blood-alcohol content level was at .18 or higher. The charge carries a maximum jail time of up to a year.

According to NYPD records, Hernandez has been on the force since 2021 and has made five total arrests. He currently serves at the Military and Extended Leave desk.
