HARLEM, NY - A Wednesday morning shooting that killed a 65-year-old Harlemite stemmed from a robbery, authorities said.

The victim, later identified as Anthony Williams, was in front of 639 Lenox Ave. about 11:19 a.m. when a man forcibly took Williams’ property, police said.

Williams tried to confront him when he was shot in the chest by the thief, police said.

The assailant fled in a black Nissan Maxima southbound on Lenox Avenue, police said. Medics transported Williams to NYC Health + Hospitals/Harlem where he was later pronounced dead.

The shooter is described as a man with a slim build wearing a gray Nike hooded sweatshirt, black face mask, black jeans and black sneakers.
