Straphanger Robbed At Knifepoint On Harlem 1 Train: NYPD
Robberies are up 37% compared to this time last year in the precinct. That's compared to a 5.9% decrease in robberies citywide.

HARLEM, NY - A straphanger was robbed at knifepoint on a 1 train in Harlem late Thursday morning, authorities said.
The victim gave up his wallet after the assailant brandished a knife about 10:50 a.m. near the West 125th Street and Broadway station, police said.
The alleged robber fled to the street and ran toward West 116th Street, police said. The victim reported no physical injuries.

The suspect was last seen wearing a hooded sweatshirt, a black tee shirt and black pants, police said.

As of Thursday, New York City has 12,390 reported robbery incidents so far in 2023, according to city data. That's down about 5.9 percent from the same time the previous year.
In the 26th precinct where the robbery took place, police have seen 111 similar incidents so far in 2023. That’s compared up 37 percent from 81 incidents reported this time last year.
