Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these heroes making a difference in their communities. We’re working to let all your neighbors know the individual stories behind the leaderboard.

What sport does the star student athlete play?
Basketball
Why do you believe the star student athlete should be recognized?
One of the hardest job descriptions is being a student-athlete. Joseph Jimenez started playing basketball last year and had made leaps and bounds learning how to play the game. He will be a valued member of the Boys JV Basketball team at A. Philip Randolph High School. Currently holding a 90 grade point average, Joseph never misses a 6:30am optional practice session and never misses after school practices. He is constantly looking for ways to work on his game as well as academics.
What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star student athlete?
Joseph truly loves the game of basketball. While many more talented kids say the love it, Joseph displays it with his action and work ethic.
Keep up the great work, Joseph Jimenez!
