Woman Killed, 2 Firefighters Injured In Manhattan Fire, FDNY Says

EAST HARLEM, NY — A woman died in a fire in an East Harlem apartment building Wednesday night, and two firefighters were injured, New York City Fire Department officials said.

According to the FDNY, the fire broke out at 221 East 112th St., which is between Second Avenue and Third Avenue, just before 7 p.m. Wednesday.

The fire started on the 19th floor of the 35-story building, FDNY officials said.

A 72-year-old woman died in the fire, and two firefighters were taken to local hospitals with injuries, officials said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the FDNY fire marshals.
