Filing electronic crash reports reduces overhead costs for the department. Police departments spend an average of $35,000 a year to manually reproduce accident reports. The new system virtually eliminates this cost as well as the administrative staff time spent fulfilling each request.

Just as importantly, public access to crash reports is now more efficient. Reports needed by involved parties, insurance companies and other members of the public are now easily obtained online within minutes.
