The girl scouts have always supported the food pantry by collecting donations at their community events. This year, after hearing about the dire needs of the pantry, leaders Maria Pennella (Troop 1886) and Gail Frohlich (Troop 1889) joined together to coordinate the Harrison Girl Scout Community Food Pantry Action Plan.
The plan includes a $500 donation from the Harrison Girl Scout Community, all scouts are asked to bring an item as part of their meeting dues this year; the fall food drive was held October 22 and 23; troops are creating Thanksgiving baskets filled with non-perishable goodies; troops can adopt a family for the December holidays and there will be another food drive in late spring to help the food pantry get through the summer when donations are traditionally low.
