Home Run Hopefuls to Host Equipment Drive

The following announcement was posted by a Patch reader, to add your news to Harrison Patch.

Baseball is the national sport in the Dominican Republic. Almost all children play it, but without any real equipment. Most Dominican kids use sticks for bats, milk cartons for gloves, and miscellaneous markers for bases.

We are seeking to collect: baseballs, baseball mitts, bats, batting gloves, hats, baseball pants and uniforms, helmets, catcher’s equipment, cleats and sneakers. Wearable daily clothing is also accepted.

The equipment will be collected at the evaluation site for the Harrison Little League tryouts on Saturday, March 3rd and Sunday, March 4.

This drive is being organized by Stephen Brand of Purchase, who has spent the last three years working with the charity. ( to see more on his story)
