“The holiday season is always difficult for our local animal shelters,” explains Best Friends manager Tara Manganiello. “Donations of food and funds fall off because we are all preoccupied with the holidays. Shelter volunteers tell us that they really depend upon our Angel Tree program to get through the holiday season.”
The Angel Tree in the lobby of every Best Friends Pet Care center is decorated with paper ornaments providing information about needy dogs and cats. Pet lovers are invited to select a card from the tree and donate the listed holiday gifts. Since each shelter has specific needs, donors are asked to shop from the shelter’s wish list. All of the pets featured on the Angel Tree are available for adoption.
