Art Gallery Openings in Harrison; Jazz Festival in White Plains


TODAY: The Harrison Library will host “Visions of Air and Water: Paintings by David W. Coffin," starting today. The exhibit, which is being presented by the Harrison Council for the Arts, begins today and will go on through Oct. 4. An opening reception will take place Sept 7, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. The library is located at 2 Bruce Ave. in Harrison.  

TODAY: "From Function to Fetish,” an art exhibit by Beth Ireland, begins today at the Richard & Dolly Maass Gallery in Purchase College’s Visual Arts Building. The exhibit will take place Sept. 3-16, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Ireland,a well-known woodturner and sculpture, is serving as a Windgate Artist in Residence at Purchase College.

WEDNESDAY: SCORE Westchester is hosting  a workshop on product marketing, sales, distribution and manufacturing relations Wednesday, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Entrepreneur Nina Mattikow will lead the workshop. Register here. SCORE Westchester is located at 120 Bloomingdale Rd. in White Plains.

THURSDAY: The Burke Rehabilitation Hospital in White Plains is hosting an adaptive sports and fitness seminar Thursday at 5 p.m. on its main campus, located at 785 Mamaroneck Avenue in White Plains.The event will include representatives from Burke, Achilles International, NSCIA, and the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.  Dinner is included. FRIDAY: The White Plains Jazz Festival begins Friday. The event, which will run through Sunday, will feature top performers at venues throughout the city. On Saturday, comedian Bill Cosby is scheduled to take the stage at the Westchester County Center, with his show scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m. Tickets to Cosby’s show can be purchased here. The festival culminates Sunday with The White Plains International Food and Jazz Fest, which takes place from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. between Mamaroneck and Martine avenues.
