HHS 'Bandathon' Celebration Starts Thursday

Harrison students will showcase their various skills during performances Thursday and Friday at Harrison High School.

Harrison High School students are making final preparations for a two-day event that will showcase a wide variety of artistic talents.

The annual high school Bandathon starts Thursday, and this year's event promises to provide entertainment using a variety of artistic venues. The event is a celebration of individual student accomplishment as well as the success of the Harrison band program, said Mary Ellis, director of fine and performing arts at Harrison.

Presentations and performances at the high school will begin Thursday morning and last until Friday evening. Each high school class has a specific presentation this year. Freshman will focus on the history, cultural significance or construction of their instrument; sophomores will examine how to interpret two pieces of literature in two different styles for their performance; juniors will study career opportunities and alumni experiences in the music industry; seniors will present a "legacy project" in May.
