Championship Loss Shows Heart of Girls All-Stars
Harrison's 9/10 year-old softball all-star team loses championship in a heartbreaker after a thrilling tournament run.
After trailing for the entire game it took a perfect throw from the outfield to keep the Harrison 9/10 softball all-stars from an unprobable comeback in the District 20 championship game Thursday evening in Ardsley.
But the Eastchester girls got the throw they needed, and Harrison's tournament run ended with the tying run thrown out at home plate in the bottom of the sixth inning. Eastchester won the championship game 5-4.
The game capped what has been an exciting run for the girls softball team. After losing the first game of the double-elimination tournament 11 - 1 on June 21, Harrison rattled off four straight wins to capture the losers bracket and advance to the championship.

Thursday's game had a lot of the same themes for the girls, who trailed Eastchester 3 - 0 after the first inning and 4-0 after three innings but never gave up.
Harrison scored two runs in the bottom of the third and rallied in their last at-bat before falling just short.
