Miss Anything? This Week in Review
A look back at this week in Harrison news for the week of April 19.

Harrison came to a major agreement with three large unions this week to create a $1 million reduction in salary costs, alleviating concerns that layoffs would become necessary.
The CSEA and Teamsters Unions came to an agreement last week, while the PBA came to terms over last weekend. This leaves the Foremen's Union, which is a five person collective bargaining union under the CSEA, and the Downtown Firefighters Union which has fourteen members, as the only unions that have not come to terms with the town.
The Harrison Town Board provided few details regarding the union deals on Thursday, but more details are expected once the contract changes are finalized.

The Harrison Board of Education adopted its 2010 - 11 budget on Wednesday night. The budget will bring a with it a 3.47 percent tax increase and will eliminate approximately 17 positions within the district. Residents can vote on the budget on May 18.
We heard plenty from our state representative in Albany. Assemblyman Robert Castelli visited Purchase college last week, and this week voiced his frustration with the still incomplete state budget. We also found out that West Harrison resident Mark Jaffe will run for Castelli's seat this Novemeber.

Purchase College made headlines again on Thursday when the campus hosted a launching event where SUNY Chancellor Nancy L. Zimpher outlined ambitious plans for the future of state's public college system.
This week was also a busy week in sports, as the Harrison softball team remained undefeated with two wins Byram Hills on Monday and Wednesday. We also took a look at the career of pitcher Ashley Marino after she broke Harrison's career strikeout record earlier this season.
On the baseball diamond Harrison defeated Byram Hills on Wednesday, while the boys varsity lacrosse team lost a tough game to Fox Lane on Tuesday.
This week's Harrison athlete of the week was girls lacrosse captain Melissa Shulman for her great effort in a game last week against Somers.
Harrison businesses helped support the United Way on Tuesday with their participation in a charity event. Several Harrison restaurants provided free food in what was a very successful "Taste of the Soundshore".
