Flash Flooding a Threat as Storms Hit the Area
No road closures reported after storms sweep through the area.
A powerful afternoon thunderstorm passed through Harrison at about 1 p.m. today and more storms threaten to hit the area this afternoon, resulting in a flash flood warning for the area that lasted through most of the early afternoon.
During the height of this afternoon's storm the intersection of Oakland and Halstead Avenues downtown was almost completely covered with water. Vehicles were still passing through the area, however, and the intersection was clear of standing water by about 1:30 p.m.
Other trouble spots including the trails area downtown and Nelson Avenue near LMK Middle School were clear. There are also no power outages in Harrison, West Harrison or Purchase at this time, according to Con Edison.

Harrison Police are reporting no local road closures at this time, but said more rain could cause problems this afternoon. The National Weather Service is predicting a 70 percent chance of more precipitation and more thunderstorms are likely until about 7 p.m.
Travelers are advised to use precaution while on the road and to never drive a vehicle over an area covering the entire roadway. One foot of water is enough to sweep a vehicle from the road, according to the NWS.
