HHS Cheer Celebrates 70th Anniversary
The Harrison Cheerleaders Alumni Association's Annual dinner was held Saturday at Harrison's John Cabot Club.
Harrison High School cheerleaders celebrated 70 years of school spirit this weekend, as the varsity and junior varsity cheerleading teams capped their seasons with a ceremony at Harrison's John Cabot Club.
On hand to give awards were members of the Harrison Board of Education, Assemblymen Robert Castelli and Kathleen O'Connor, commissioner of Westchester County Parks and Recreation.
“Cheerleading is an important sport and a great way to show school spirit,” Castelli said at the ceremony. “We are fortunate here in Westchester County to host one of the premier cheering squads in the country and for over 70 years the Harrison Cheerleaders Alumni Association has advocated for cheerleaders and a broader commitment to promoting school spirit in Harrison.”

The event also served as a fundraiser for next year's varsity and junior varsity cheer teams.
“Through their participation, these girls are learning lessons in discipline, teamwork and perseverance,” Castelli said. “That will help them grow into the leaders of tomorrow.”
