HPD Officer Set to Retire After 22 Years

Police officer David Tolve will retire on July 28, 2012.

Officer David Tolve is retiring from the Harrison Police Department after 22 years of service.

Tolve, who was a leader within the department's motorcycle and traffic unit as well as commercial vehicle enforcement program, will officially leave the department July 28.

During his 22 years on the force, Police Chief Anthony Marraccini said Tolve has been an asset to the department.

"He really was—is—an outstanding police officer," said Marraccini. "He worked in every aspect of the job, whenever we needed something done he was one of those guys we could call."

Marraccini said Tolve suffered a serious injury during an on-duty motorcycle accident earlier in his career, but that the veteran officer showed his dedication by working hard to rehab his injuries so he could return to work.

"Dave's been a great police officer for 22 years," said Councilwoman Marlane Amelio. "We're going to miss him."
