Parking Banned on Buckout Road
After a recommendation from Police Chief Anthony Marraccini, the Harrison Town Board voted to ban parking on the remote side street.
It's not necessarily the number of cars stopping on Buckout Road that led the town board to approve a parking ban on the small side street, it's more about what people were doing after deciding to park there.
With woods on either side containing an old—possibly haunted—cemetery and lots of open spaces, the area had become a spot for teens to meet and party, explained Harrison Mayor/Supervisor Ron Belmont. Police Chief Anthony Marraccini recommended that the town board ban parking on the narrow road mostly to keep kids out of the woods.
"They were parking there for the wrong reasons," said Belmont. "If they have nowhere to park, they can't get there."

Although the area where the ban will take affect is not entirely surrounded by woods, Belmont said the board agreed that a section closer to West Harrison was too narrow for parking anyway and it was included in the ban.
Parking had been allowed on the south side of the road, but not on the north side. The new ban makes parking illegal anytime on Buckout from Old Lake Street to the White Plains line.
