VIDEO: Field of Honor Unveiled at HHS
A field of honor memorializing local veterans was officially opened at Harrison High School Tuesday.
School officials and area veterans were at Harrison High School Tuesday afternoon, celebrating the opening of a "Field of Honor", a line of American Flags on the school's front lawn.
Each flag will remain on display until the day after Flag Day and represents a local veteran. The field was created as a way to honor veterans and raise money to send the high school band to the Pearl Harbor Memorial Parade this December in Honolulu, HI.
Donations of $40 to place a flag are currently being accepted at the high school.

The Pearl Harbor Memorial Parade, now in its second year, honors those lost during the 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor as well as United States war veterans. This year's parade will specifically commemorate the 50th anniversary of the USS Arizona Memorial, which was dedicated in 1962. Harrison is the first school from New York State to accept an invite.
