Here are the top stories today in Brooklyn Heights-DUMBO:

  1. Mayor-elect Adams said at a Tuesday press conference that he "loves" the idea of creating an elevated park over the BQE, which was originally proposed by former Deputy Borough President Diana Reyna. His other infrastructure spending priorities included "fixing NYCHA in a real way," and extending the 2nd Avenue subway into East Harlem. (New York Post)
  2. The City Planning Commission voted unanimously in support of the Williamsburg waterfront "River Ring" project that would create 1,000 housing units–at least 263 of which would have some level of affordability. Now it heads to City Council. The proposed Two Trees development is located on a former Con Edison storage lot along River Street. (Brooklyn Eagle)
  3. The NYPD has recovered more "ghost" guns in 2021–guns that don't have any serial number or other form of identification–than in past years. This year they found 200, compared to 145 in 2020 and 48 in 2019. Last week, a bill to study gun violence in New York State, backed by Assemblymember Jo Anne Simon, was signed into law. (Gothamist)
  4. Even vaccinated New Yorkers should plan on getting a COVID test before traveling for the Thanksgiving holidays, according to New York City health officials that are hoping to prevent an uptick in cases. (NYC Patch)
