Here are the top four stories in Brooklyn Heights-DUMBO today:

  1. Governor Hochul signed a bill into law yesterday that seeks to put a stop to overweight trucks traveling on the BQE–particularly in the vulnerable three cantilever section passing through Brooklyn Heights. The legislation, introduced by Senator Kavanagh and Assemblymember Simon, will require the placement of an advanced weight measurement system at key points along the highway. (Brooklyn Paper)
  2. Word on the street is that the Chase Bank branch on Montague St. is closing indefinitely because too many of tits employees are not complying with a vaccine mandate. The next closest location is at 101 Court Street. (Brooklyn Heights Blog)
  3. It's official! Thanks to Brooklynite Debbie Zhang's award-winning story of adopting her cat during COVID, the Brooklyn Bridge Animal Welfare Coalition is to get $35,000! The check from PetCo was just, signed, sealed, and delivered. (Brooklyn Paper)
  4. CityMD is temporarily closing three locations in Brooklyn, including in the nearby neighborhood of Cobble Hill, citing staffing shortages and employees' fatigue. (NYC Patch)
