- Mayor-Elect Adams appointed David Banks, the founder of a boys' school in The Bronx called Eagle Academy, as the city's next schools chancellor. Banks committed to making large investments in uplifting educational disparities in communities of color. (CBS New York)
- The final section of Brooklyn Bridge Park, underneath the Brooklyn Bridge, opened up yesterday with a ribbon cutting ceremony. It appears to include a large concrete plaza among other amenities. The plaza is named after Emily Warren Roebling, a pioneering engineer who helped build the bridge in the 19th century. (Spectrum News NY1)
- New York Attorney General Letitia James dropped out of the race for governor yesterday, after consistently lagging behind Governor Kathy Hochul in polls. Public advocate Jumaane Williams and Rep. Tom Suozzi are still in the running, and maybe even Bill de Blasio. (NYC Patch)
