Here are the top four stories in Brooklyn Heights-DUMBO today:

  1. Lots of change is coming to the tiny neighborhood of Vinegar Hill–at least three construction projects have broken ground with a fourth in the works. All of them look like they are relatively low-rise and will offer luxury housing. One, at 288 Water Street, will be five stories and offer three apartments–two of which will be occupied by the owner's family. (Brooklyn Bridge Parents)
  2. The Brooklyn Public Library awarded nearly $90,000 to branches across the borough interested in implementing creative projects. At the Adams Street branch children will spend six weeks asking "big questions" through interactive workshops, while in Brooklyn Heights LGBTQ+ veterans and teenagers will share their stories. (Brooklyn Daily Eagle)
  3. The DUMBO Business Improvement District is offering free "DUMBO Dollars" that can be spent locally to children in the neighborhood that write letters to Santa. All they have to do is drop off a letter in the BID's holiday mailbox. (News 12 Brooklyn)
  4. COVID is still raging across the borough. 280,000 Brooklynites got tested last week (Dec. 12 to Dec. 18). Brooklyn has the second-highest rate of transmission in the borough, at 616 new cases per 100,000 residents. In response, the city announced on Tuesday that it is offering a $100 incentive to get a booster shot through December 31st. (Brooklyn Paper)
